A native Houstonian, Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Austin College, a Juris Doctor degree from South Texas College of Law, and a certificate from the A.A. White Dispute Resolution Center at the University of Houston Law Center. Chris has successfully tried civil lawsuits in the trial courts of Harris County and argued cases at the appellate level. Chris’s litigation practice is concentrated in the area of civil litigation, including contract disputes, business disputes, construction litigation, landlord-tenant and real estate litigation, commercial collection matters, arbitration, and advertising law. He also serves as a court appointed receiver and master in chancery in federal and state courts. Chris is a trained mediator with experience and training in many forms of alternative dispute resolution. Chris is “AV” Peer Review Rated by Martindale Hubbell, which is the highest rating available, signifying the highest levels of legal skill and integrity. Throughout his career, Chris has appeared in virtually every type of court that exists in Texas. Chris is a co-author of Judgment Enforcement – Second Edition for Chapter 14 on the Texas Law of Judgment Enforcement, a law book by Aspen Publishers. Chris is also an adjunct faculty member of the University of Houston Law Center teaching pretrial advocacy and has lectured at various continuing legal education presentations and local colleges including teaching at the Harris County Judicial Education Conference. Chris has been a member of the Republican Leadership Counsel and has participated in local judicial campaigns and Harris County Republican Party events. Chris and his wife Rachel Lanier Gillett have three children Christopher, Margaret Elizabeth, and James. They are members of St. John the Divine Episcopal Church in Houston. |
